How Much Humanitarian Aid Does Gaza Need?
Aid entering Gaza was taken through Rafah and Kerem Shalom passes in the south and Erez passes in the north.
UNRWA, the United Nations (UN) agency responsible for the Palestinian population in Gaza, provides approximately 40 percent of the aid provided to people in Gaza.
The charity ActionAid UK is one of several independent organizations providing aid to Gaza.
According to the aid organization,
- The entire population of Gaza, 2.3 million, is currently food insecure
- 346 thousand children under the age of five are malnourished
- 50,400 children under five years of age are acutely malnourished
- 160 thousand pregnant and breastfeeding women need additional food to avoid the risk of malnutrition
